The Cottage at Cemaes Bay, The North Coast of Anglesey, Wales
Situated on the North Coast of Anglesey, this quaint and homely holiday cottage in the picturesque village of Cemaes Bay is just yards from the working harbour and the "blue flag" beach. The cottage is set in a row of four and is upside down in style with a large double bedroom on the ground floor together with the shower room and stairs leading up to the large open plan lounge/diner/kitchen with exposed timber floor boards.
This top floor with the kitchen diner includes the dining table seating four, the large sofa bed for two plus the TV/DVD player and a selection of books to read at ones leisure. The local village boasts a selection of pubs and shops including the traditional family butcher, post office, bakery, tea rooms and the general store.
Cemaes offers the ideal holiday for all ages with its award-winning bay and two main beaches providing safe paddling for younger ones with the opportunity to just relax and soak up that summer sun.
Sandy isolated coves are within a short walk along the headland if you wish to escape from the bustle and enjoy the serenity of the cliffs and sea and forget the stresses and strains of daily life.
If you're not a walker, you dont fancy a round of golf and the beach is for another day, why not try your hand at sea fishing.
From Cemaes there is boat fishing but if you do not have the sea legs there are numerous safe spots from the shore with reasonable access and if you have the knack then Mackerel, Pollack, Codling, or Whiting and could be on the evening's menu.
Many bird watchers are attracted to Cemaes Bay and its surrounding area which offers sightings of a wide variety of birds including Herring and Black-backed gulls, herons and waders such as Redshank and Oyster-catcher.
And at nearby Cemlyn Bird Reserve, it is the home to the only substantial colony of Sandwich Terns in Wales. And add to this the Arctic Terns, Ringed Plover, Red-breasted Merganser, amongst many others then it really is a bird watchers paradise.
And if you fancy a trip to The Republic of Ireland, ferries are only a short distance away at Holyhead with just over a three hour sea journey. Some visit Dublin for that perfect pint of Guinness or to crowd around the banks of the famous River Liffey and soak up the cities rich layers of history back to the days when Celtic tribes wandered the peat bogs. So it's easy to see why tourists today head to Dublin in such large numbers. You could be one of them for the day.
