Converted from an old Welsh farm into a splendid homely hotel, Penbontbren is a rare gem tucked away in the beautiful rural countryside of West Wales. Penbontbren, meaning "above the wooden bridge", is the ideal place to experience a break with a truly Welsh flavour.

Accommodation. All of the 10 guestrooms at Penbontbren have been tastefully converted from the original farm buildings to an award-winning standard. All rooms are "en-suite" and combine those little extras that make any stay more comfortable, including a welcome sherry and fresh fruit awaiting guests on arrival.

You could sample our special mixed smoked fish followed by Welsh duck. Why not visit the famous falls of the river Teifi at Cenarth or the many beautiful beaches nearby? If you're more energetic, there's golfing, swimming and boating at Cardigan, plus paintballing and go-carting nearby to keep you busy. The Woollen Museum at Drefach Felindre, Cilgerran Castle and Henllan steam railway are just a few of the cultural places to visit.

At Aberystwyth the vale of Rheidol narrow gauge railway, the National Library of Wales with nearby Devil's Bridge and Strata Florida Abbey. Tiny fishing villages dot the coast nearby with small harbours at Aberaeron, New Quay, Aberystwyth, Cardigan and many to the South of the River Teifi in Pembrokeshire. Visits to local town of Newcastle Emlyn in Carmarthenshire are interesting especially on market days, as is the monthly horse market at Llanybydder.
