Canllefaes Cottages
Canllefaes cottages are surrounded by fields at the end of our own private lane, about 250 metres from the A487 Cardigan to Aberaeron road, just outside the village of Penparc. This location is ideal for exploring the mountains, beaches and countryside of this beautiful part of West Wales.
Canllefaes Ganol was a farmstead that has existed in some form since the 12th century.
We (John and Sue Leigh) moved here in 1977 and since then we have gradually converted the ancient buildings into attractive cottages, with great care taken to preserve and enhance the beams,
stonework and traditional features
The cottages, all graded 5 Star by the Wales Tourist Board, range in size sleeping from two people in a one bedroom cottage to eight people in a four-bedroom cottage. Two of the cottages have been designed for wheelchair users (NAS 2). An outdoor heated swimming pool is available from May to September.
On arrival you will find your cottage spotlessly clean and carefully appointed so that your holiday with us is as relaxing as possible
The beds are full sized and are already made up with polycotton sheets and covers for the duvets. Cots and high chairs are available, but please bring your own cot bedding. Please note that we do not supply personal towels or tea towels.
The kitchens are equipped to ensure ease of catering, with Dishwashers, microwaves, built-in ovens and hobs, cafetieres and toasters, etc.
All the cottages have fridge-freezers, with the exception of the Stable, which has a fridge with a freezer compartment.
If you prefer to give the cook a well-earned rest, then a range of delicious home cooked meals are available from our freezer.
Woodburning stoves and night-storage heaters provide warmth and comfort during cooler periods, whilst tasteful furnishings, country prints, pine, colour television, books and games complete the picture.
The cottages share a laundry room with an automatic washing machine and tumble drier. A clothes line and pegs are available in the orchard. Each cottage has its own ironing facilities.
A pay-phone is on site for your convenience.
Cardigan, an ancient market town is approx 2 miles down the road. There you will find a bustling shopping centre with independent shops and supermarkets, a lively theatre/cinema and two leisure centres, one with both indoor swimming pool and toddler pool.
You will be spoilt for choice for beaches and hidden coves in this area. Sandy beaches at Mwnt, Aberporth, Tresaith, Penbryn and Poppit are ideal for bathing or simply lazing You can walk to your hearts content in the nearby countryside and on the coastal paths, or just watch for the dolphins and seals. You can be as lazy or as active as you like in this beautiful part of West Wales. Each cottage has a folder containing information and leaflets on the various activities in the area.
