Lampit Cove Self Catering Cottages, Fishguard, West Wales
Lampit Cove cottages are in a striking position on the cliffs above the fishing harbour of Lower Town Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. These character stone cottages have been converted from a 100 year old Drill Hall, originally built for the Territorial Army. From your window you can enjoy spectacular views along the north Pembrokeshire coast towards Newport, and glorious sunrises over the Preseli Hills.
Our first cottage has a spacious slate floored hallway leading onto the kitchen which overlooks the fishing harbour of Lower Town. It is fully equipped with electric hob, double oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. The stunning open plan living and dinning room of the cottage also has views of the harbour.
Sleeping six, plus a baby, there is one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms. Upstairs is a bathroom and downstairs is a shower room with wc and wash hand basin.
The second of our cottages will be available for the 2005 holiday season and either will give you an excellent base for exploring this beautiful unspoilt county. There are fantastic sandy beaches and tucked away coves to discover. Explore the surrounding towns of Newport, Goodwick and St Davids and remote villages for country pubs and restaurants. From the cottages there are several scenic walks to the centre of Fishguard - the shortest route takes just 7 minutes and with no steep hills.
Explore the unspoilt beauty of Pembrokeshire which is famous for excellent sandy beaches and tucked away coves where even at the height of summer you can get away from the crowds. Lobsters and crabs are brought ashore in the small fishing harbours and discover wonderful walking in the nearby Gwaun Valley or on the Presseli Hills.
The magnificent Pembrokeshire coastline is what brings people back year after year. The 186 mile Coastal Path is a National Park and stretches around most of Pembrokeshire's coastline. There are wonderful wildflowers and the birdlife includes puffins, razorbills, guillemots and cormorants. The waters are also home to seals and during autumn you will find them feeding their young in sheltered coves. Whales, dolphins and porpoise are regular visitors off Strumble Head.
Fishguard Bay is ideal for windsurfing, kayaking and boating and there are facilities for hiring these at the Watersports Centre. Regattas and sailing races are regular events throughout the summer. You can fish in nearby rivers for trout, salmon and sea trout. There are several fisheries for coarse fishing and sea fishing trips are available nearby. Horse riding is available nearby, and bring your bikes to enjoy the country lanes. Every July there is the annual international music and arts festival.
